Photography – How it All Started
Photography – How it All Started Photography got its name from the Greek words "photos" which means light and "graphein" meaning to draw. The first image was produced in the summer of 1827 by the Frenchman Joseph Nicephore Niepce. It took him 8 hours to create it! Another Frenchmen named Daguerre was the first to invent the most practical process for developing pictures during that time. He was a professional painter of opera scenes. After years of experimenting with light and images, Daguerre was able to develop a process to make pictures that were quicker to create and overall more effective. He sold the rights to the French government then wrote a book about his invention. Not long after Daguerre, the pinhole camera was invented by Al-Haytham with the resulting image viewed upside down. A European named Della Porta was able to re-invent the pinhole camera, writing a book about it as well. Paul Vierkotter from Austria was credited for inventing The flashbulbs, which were called "vacublitz".

I made a pinhole camera for a school project and it really worked. No lens needed. But results had very little depth of field.
